Excellence

  • The hospital set up a human biobank upon the approval by the Executive Yuan's Ministry of Health and Welfare on October 25, 2012.
     
  • The specimens are from tumor tissue, body fluid, bone marrow, and blood, with the types including the uterus, ovary, large intestine, kidney, ureter, oral cavity, lung, liver, breast, and brain.
     
  • Tissues and cell specimens are preserved in liquid nitrogen buckets; serum, plasma, and body fluids are preserved in an ice cabinet at -80℃, and DNA is preserved in an ice cabinet at -30℃, in order to ensure quality. The specimens are used only by researchers working with the doctors of the hospital.
     
  • The hospital is the second institution nationwide that passed the Ministry of Health and Welfare's review, and collaborates with Academia Sinica in collecting 15 disease specimens for the use by national researchers.
