  • Professor Su, along with his international research partners, has worked hard for years to found the International Society for Nutritional Psychiatry Research (ISNPR) in 2013. He served as the founding director of the ISNPR and has become an important scholar in promoting nutritional medicine into the mainstream of psychiatry.
  • In 2015, he published papers in World Psychiatry (impact factor (IF)=27) and Lancet Psychiatry (IF=12), pointing out that the importance of nutrition in the etiology and treatment of depression has been overlooked within the medical community, and proposing treatment guidelines and expert consensus.

  • Originality: Omega-3 Fatty Acids for Major Depressive Disorder During Pregnancy (J Clin Psychiatry 2008), with 247 times cited
  • His research results were published in Mol Psychiatry, the no. 1 journal in psychiatry: anti-depression components and indications of Omega-3 fatty acids (IF: 15)
  • Study of Omega-3 fatty acids in the treatment of dementia (PNPBP 2008), with 274 times cited
  • The physiological lack of omega-3 in severe depression (Biol Psych 2010), with 272 times cited
  • According to literature at the top 1% of times cited and co-citation factors from 2006 to 2011, Professor Sue also became one of the top 10 scientists in Taiwan, for which he was presented with a Thomson Reuters Research Excellence award, demonstrating his contributions to the great breakthrough in and influence on global medical research.
  • According to h-index statistics, Professor Kuan-pin Su was ranked second in the world among single authors in the field of omega-3 PUFAs and depression, while the school team was ranked sixth among global institutes.
