2003
When severe SARS cases exploded in Taiwan. The division accepted the patient who was the first deceased case in Taiwan. Director Wang Reng Xian was appointed the Executive Director of Epidemic Prevention of the Central Area and assisted Commander Tsai Chang Hai in conducting preventional measures and successfully made the central area the only city that avoided SARS outbreak within hospitals.

Doctor Wang Reng Xian of Director of Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital was transferred to the Division of Infectious Diseases and clinical Microbiology of the Hospital.
Pandemic explosion of increase of enteric virus. Specialist Shiou Hwei Chiu of Pediatric Infectious Diseases Division of National Taiwan University Hospital joined the hospital to provide her services.
Doctor Lin Xiao Juan of Pediatric Infectious Diseases Division received training at National Taiwan University Hospital

The Hospital established the Division of Infectious Diseases, Infection Control Committee and Infection Control Teams.
1993
Resident physician Wen Liang Yu went to Taipei Veterans General Hospital to receive 2nd year of Infectious disease and infection control training.
