Sichuan earthquake- The Hospital sent a medical task force to provide medical support for local medical institutes.

Official launch of Critical Care Center Building. The Department of Emergency Medicine moved from the First Medical Building to the Critical Care Building, with number of hospital beds increased from 60 to 3207, with the area increase by 800 ping.

Doctor Wei-Kung Chen became the President of Taiwan Society of Emergency Medicine

SARS Epidemic, the Hospital was appointed the “SARS Prevention Resource Integration Command Center of the Central Area”

2001

Typhoon Toraji hit Taiwan, the Hospital used its helicopter to assist the disaster rescue in Nantou

1999

921 Earthquake, establishment of emergency support medical team. The hospital was appointed by the Ministry of Health and Welfare as the Emergency Medical Grid Hospital for the Central Area.

“Emergency Unit” expanded to becoming “Department of Emergency Medicine”, promoting an Emergency Medicine Specialist system.

Doctor Kuo-Juei Lin was appointed Director

The Emergency Room was enhanced starting from August. Construction completed in October of 1987, with a total of 45 observation beds. Increase in emergency patients, with a daily average of 120 persons.
