The Department of Nursing, regardless of nursing administration, clinical care, nursing education and research, has been moving forward continuously.
Administration

According to the specialty and service characteristics of different diseases, each supervisor is responsible for respective layer of business, setting up eight committees of nursing quality management, patient safety, nursing standards and information , nursing education and training, development of nursing research, material management, safety and health, and traditional Chinese medicine nursing for assisting with the implementation of various nursing services.

Meanwhile, we promote the administrative reform program, including: operation room equipment and materials management, computerization of various forms, human benefit analysis and management, and nursing supervisor rotation, so as to improve the effectiveness of nursing administration and management.

Clinical care

  1. We require nurses to correctly assess the needs of patients, determine the condition and inspection results, fully grasp the patient's problems, provide doctors with correct information, perform nursing measures, and offer patients holistic and continuous care.
  2. We have developed a bedside computer information system to shorten recording time and increase the convenience of work.
  3. We have developed a variety of specialized indicators to effectively control the quality of nursing.
  4. We have promoted the suggestion system, quality control circle (QCC) activities, and nursing projects in an effort to more effectively improve the working process, reduce costs, and boost service standards.
  5. We have drawn up a quality monitoring plan and regularly collected quality indicator monitoring results and abnormal indicators to improve  Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA).
  6. We have joined the Taiwan Clinical Performance Indicator (TCPI) system to report nursing care-related indicators, and collect and analyze index data to conduct reviews and make improvements each month.

Nursing education and research

Nursing education

We continue to actively organize various on-the-job education programs, keynote speeches, and large seminars both at home and abroad, and select personnel to participate in various training and seminars at home and abroad, so as to propel the professional growth of nursing staff. The department has offered grants to nursing elites for further study for a master’s degree or doctorate from domestic or foreign schools, improving the academic atmosphere and innovation ability, and promoting the collaboration between clinical practice and theory.

The department has actively used the hospital’s teaching resources to provide a wide range of professional training programs, including NPGY joint training, adult/child care nursing training, emergency and critical care training, clinical nursing teacher training, and specialist nurse training, with the aim of helping the nursing staff in and outside the hospital to enhance their professional knowledge and skills, and to cultivate excellent nursing talents with specialized ability.
