Department Introduction

Gynecology | Excellence

:::

Excellence

In 1990, The department began to develop laparoscopic surgery to enhance the treatment of cancer and the quality of care for postoperative patients. In addition, we also made the world's first case by using oral mucosa in vaginal reconstruction surgery, which greatly enhanced the status of the department in the international community.

The minimally invasive surgery in cancer has been successfully adopted in the radical surgery, urinary incontinence surgery or pelvic cavity reconstruction surgery. Every year, many physicians at home and abroad would visit the hospital to learn our practices in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

In 2009, we successfully hosted the "Annual Meeting of Taiwan Association for Minimally Invasive Gynecology" and the "Asia-Pacific Regional Conference on Endoscopic Surgery" and became the one of the two institutions in Taiwan for minimally invasive endoscopic research and training (APAGE).

 In 2007, the Department passed the certification on its "Cervical Cancer Screening (Pap Smear) Test and Alert System" held by Health Promotion Administration and won the "Excellent" Award. The department even has the highest number of patients going through the "Cervical Cancer Screening (Pap Smear) Test and Alert System" in Central Taiwan.

In 2008, Cervical Cancer Team of the  department won "Grade A" on " Cancer Treatment Quality Certification" sponsored by Health Promotion Administration. The department has continued to offer services for diagnosis and treatment of the cervical cancer for many years and won the 3rd place in terms of the number of patients receiving relevant services in the department. The 5-year survival rate is even closer to that by international standards.

In addition to clinical services, teaching and research are also the very important parts in the department. Empirical medicine has become the trend of modern medicine. In particular, the department assigned Dr. Zhang Weijun to arrive in the UK for further studies, so that he could assist the hospitals in promoting empirical medical research.

Over the years, we have published hundreds of articles on gynecology. In the future, we expect to combine teaching and research to promote both the clinical and basic research.
